How do I flash my lights when someone subscribes on Twitch?

A burst of colour when a new sub drops is one of the most satisfying bits of stream interactivity. Here’s how to wire your smart lights to Twitch events.

What you need

Smart lights with an API — Govee, LIFX, Shelly, Philips Hue or Nanoleaf are all common — and a way to listen for Twitch events (a follow, sub, cheer or raid) and turn them into a light command.

The DIY route

Tools like Streamer.bot or Lumia Stream can do this, but they run on your PC, need setting up, and you maintain the connections to Twitch and to each device yourself.

The built-in route

If you already relay your stream through a restreamer with automations, you connect Twitch and your lights once, then build a rule: “on Twitch sub → set the lights purple for five seconds”. No extra app to babysit, and cloud lights keep working whether your PC is on or not — LAN devices like Nanoleaf and WLED use a small local agent.

Frequently asked questions

Which lights are supported?

Stream Repeater supports Govee, LIFX, Shelly, Philips Hue and Nanoleaf, plus WLED — colour, brightness and on/off, triggered by your stream events.

Do I need my PC running?

For cloud lights (Govee, LIFX, Shelly, Hue) no — the actions fire from our servers. LAN-only devices (Nanoleaf, WLED) use the optional Local Agent on your machine.
