Making overlays readable on mobile
Viewers may watch your stream on a phone, in a small player or with the controls covering part of the picture. Design the overlay for the smallest useful view, not only the full desktop canvas.
Practical checks
- Use large text and strong contrast for names, scores and calls to action.
- Keep important widgets away from every edge of the canvas.
- Avoid long scrolling messages and tiny decorative labels.
- Preview both landscape and portrait crops before going live.
- Keep animation subtle so it does not compete with gameplay or captions.
If a widget is difficult to read, simplify it before adding more decoration. A clean overlay with one clear alert is more useful than a busy layout where chat and game events overlap.
