What you're actually paying for

You send us one live stream. For each destination on that channel, a relay picks the stream up and pushes a copy onward. The copies are made on our servers, so the number of destinations you add has no effect on your own upload — but it does not make that first inbound stream free either. Your connection still has to upload one stream, and no service can change that.

Relays stream-copy: your destinations receive the exact resolution, bitrate and encoding you sent, with no re-encode in between — no generation loss, and none of the latency a cloud re-encode adds. Transcoding is not offered on any plan; the relay is copy-only by design. The one exception is audio bound for an RTMP destination, which is remuxed to AAC because the format requires it. The video is never touched.

How the bandwidth allowance works

A plan's monthly allowance meters outbound traffic only — the copies pushed to your destinations, and anything served to viewers of a public watch page.

  • Not metered: the stream you publish to us, and relay traffic inside our own infrastructure.
  • Each destination is its own copy. Four destinations for an hour use roughly four times the outbound of one.
  • It resets every month and nothing carries over. On a paid plan that is your billing date; otherwise it is the same day of each calendar month.
  • Plans shown with unlimited bandwidth are not metered at all.

Reaching the limit

New broadcasts are refused and any relay still running is stopped, until your allowance rolls over or you move to a plan whose allowance covers what you have already used. Public watch pages go quiet for the same period.

It should not come as a surprise: usage is shown against your allowance in your dashboard throughout the month, and we email you at 80% and again at 100%.

Recording storage

On plans that include cloud recording, the plan card above shows both the storage allowance and the retention window. Recordings are deleted automatically once they pass that window, so download anything you want to keep.

Watermarking

The relay never adds a mark to a copied stream, on any plan — it cannot, without re-encoding the video, which we do not do. On plans whose card says so, a broadcast started from the browser studio or the mobile app carries a small Stream Repeater mark, because those encode the video on the device and can add it before the stream is ever sent. A stream from your own encoder is never marked.

Starting, changing and cancelling

  • The free plan needs no card. It is a plan, not a countdown.
  • New workspaces also start with a 14-day trial of Premium — no card, no invoice, nothing to cancel. When it lapses the workspace drops back to the free plan on its own.
  • Paid plans are billed monthly or annually, by card through Stripe, and renew until you cancel them. Paying annually saves 15% against twelve monthly payments. A subscription bought inside the iOS app is handled by Apple instead.
  • You can change or cancel at any time. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for; unused time is not refunded.
  • If you are a consumer with a statutory cooling-off right, you can request a refund from your billing page within 14 days of your first payment.

The binding version of all of this is in the Terms; this page is the plain-English version of the same rules.

Nothing to read between the lines

So that nobody has to guess what the marketing is doing:

  • We publish no user counts, revenue, customer names, quoted endorsements or ratings of any kind. Any such figure attributed to us did not come from us.
  • We make no claims about any other service's prices or features. Our comparison pages describe what we do and leave you to check anyone else's current terms yourself.
  • We do not claim to reduce your upload below one stream.
  • Whether you may relay to any particular platform is governed by that platform's terms, not ours, and they can change without notice.

Billing questions

Which traffic counts towards my bandwidth allowance?

Only outbound traffic — the copies we push to your destinations, and anything served to viewers of a public watch page. The stream you publish to us is not metered, and neither is relay traffic inside our own infrastructure.

Does adding another destination use more of my upload?

No. You upload one stream to us and we fan it out server-side, so a second or tenth destination costs you no extra upload bandwidth. It does use more of your plan's outbound allowance, because each destination is another outbound copy: three destinations for an hour use roughly three times the outbound of one. Your own connection still has to carry that single inbound stream.

What happens when I reach my bandwidth allowance?

New broadcasts are refused and any relay still running is stopped, until your allowance rolls over or you move to a plan whose allowance covers what you have already used. We email you at 80% and again at 100%, so it should not be a surprise. Plans shown with unlimited bandwidth are not metered at all.

When does my allowance reset?

Every month, and nothing carries over. On a paid plan it resets on your billing date; otherwise it resets on the same day of each calendar month.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. The free plan does not ask for one, and neither does the trial every new workspace starts with.

How do I pay?

By card, through Stripe, monthly or annually. A subscription bought inside the iOS app is handled by Apple instead.

Is Stream Repeater billed monthly or annually?

Either — you choose at checkout, and paid plans renew until you cancel them. Paying annually saves 15% against twelve monthly payments.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes, at any time. Your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and unused time is not refunded. If you are a consumer with a statutory cooling-off right, you can request a refund from the billing page within 14 days of your first payment.

What happens to my recordings?

Each plan that includes cloud recording has its own storage allowance and retention window. Recordings are deleted automatically once they pass that window, so download anything you want to keep.

Will my stream be re-encoded?

No. Relays stream-copy on every plan, so what your destinations receive is the resolution, bitrate and encoding you sent. Transcoding is not offered. The one exception is audio for RTMP destinations, which is remuxed to AAC because the format requires it — the video is untouched.

Will my stream be watermarked?

The relay never adds a mark to a copied stream, on any plan. On plans whose card says so, a broadcast started from the browser studio or the mobile app carries a small Stream Repeater mark, because those encode the video and can add it before sending. A stream you send from your own encoder is never marked.
