Using AI Stream API updates safely

The AI Streams API is useful when your own app needs to change a topic, start or stop a stream, or react to an external event. Create a dedicated write-scoped API token rather than using a personal or administrator credential.

Safer integration pattern

  • Keep the token in a server-side secret store, never in browser JavaScript.
  • Send only the fields your integration needs.
  • Validate user input before turning it into a topic or beat.
  • Add retries with backoff, not a tight polling loop.
  • Log request IDs and outcomes, but redact the token and provider keys.

Test against a non-production stream first. If a request succeeds but the picture does not change immediately, remember that queued clips play before a new topic appears. Stop the token in Settings → API tokens if the integration is retired or exposed.
