Why isn't my AI stream generating?

Every stream page has a banner that answers this in one line, with what to do. These are the answers it can give, checked in this order — the first one that applies is shown.

The page says What it means What to do
Stopped. The stream is switched off, so nothing is generated or spent. Press Start when you want it back.
AI Streams is not included on this workspace's plan. The workspace's plan doesn't include AI Streams, so no new clips are requested. Change to a plan with AI Streams, or stop the stream.
This workspace cannot broadcast at the moment. The account that owns the workspace is suspended. Contact support about the owner account.
No video service chosen. The stream has no provider. Edit the stream and pick one.
The video service this stream was set to is no longer available. The provider it named has been removed. Edit the stream and pick a current provider.
Nothing to say. No instruction, no running order and no schedule. Describe what it should show, or add beats or schedule blocks.
Nothing left to film. No instruction of its own, and every beat was turned down by the content check. Rewrite the refused beats, or add an instruction to fall back on.
No API key stored for … You haven't added a key for the chosen provider. Add one under Provider keys.
… would not accept the API key stored here. The provider refused the key. Replace the key under Provider keys.
The … account has no credits. The key works, but the account is empty. Top up at the provider, then press Check again.
The … API key here has not been checked yet. The key has never been accepted. Press Check again under Provider keys.
The spend estimate has reached your limit. Our estimate hit the limit you set. The stream stays on air with the standby picture. Raise or clear the spend limit.

When it is working

  • Working. — it's topping its queue up.
  • Working — the queue is full. — it has all the clips you asked it to keep ready, so it didn't need more this minute. That's normal.
  • Working, but not fast enough to stay unbroken. — clips are being made, but slower than they play. The banner gives the measured wait, the Clips ahead that would keep up, and what that costs. See Costs and spend limits.

Other things to check

  • Start was refused — the message says why: no channel, the workspace can't broadcast (plan or bandwidth), a channel is used by another switched-on AI stream, or nothing is ready to play yet.
  • A channel isn't receiving — see Sending an AI stream to several channels.
  • A clip failed — the queue on the stream page shows each clip's status and reason; the Activity page and the notification bell tell you about failures that won't fix themselves.
  • Viewers see a plain dark picture — that's the standby picture, shown whenever no new clip is ready. The banner says why.
