Choosing a stable stream bitrate

Your encoder should send a bitrate your upload can sustain continuously, with room for normal network variation. A perfect speed test is not a guarantee that a busy Wi-Fi connection can hold the same rate for a full broadcast.

Start conservatively

  • Prefer wired Ethernet where possible.
  • Use a stable keyframe interval supported by your destinations.
  • Leave headroom below your measured upload capacity.
  • Watch the inbound preview and encoder dropped-frame counters for several minutes before adding destinations.

Stream Repeater relays the inbound feed; it does not make an unstable upload stable. If viewers see buffering everywhere, lower the encoder bitrate or resolution and test again. If only one platform is affected, check that destination's requirements instead of changing the whole broadcast.
