Managing recording storage, retention and clips
When recording is enabled and included in your plan, Stream Repeater saves the live feed to your Video Library while you broadcast. Recordings use your workspace storage and are removed automatically when their retention period expires.
Keep storage predictable
- Disable recording on channels that do not need a VOD copy.
- Delete unwanted recordings before starting a long event.
- Use clips for highlights instead of keeping every full broadcast forever.
- Check your plan's storage and retention limits before an event.
Recording is independent from the live relay: turning recording off does not stop a live destination. Likewise, a full or unavailable recording library should not be treated as an encoder failure — check the live status separately.
VOD and clips
After a segment is finalised, it appears in the Video Library and can be played or downloaded according to your permissions. Clips reference a time range from the recording or live edge, so choose a start and end that include a little context around the moment you want to keep.
If an old recording is still visible after recording was disabled, it is historical content. The setting prevents new segments; it does not remove existing files automatically.
