Common encoder errors and fixes
Most encoder problems fit one of four patterns:
| Symptom | First check |
|---|---|
| No inbound preview | Channel URL, key and encoder output state |
| Video but no audio | Correct audio device, track selection and codec |
| Frequent disconnects | Upload stability, Wi-Fi and bitrate headroom |
| Picture is delayed or stutters | Keyframe interval, CPU load and destination requirements |
Copy the channel credentials again rather than typing them. Confirm the encoder is publishing the expected resolution and frame rate, then test at a lower bitrate. If the inbound preview is stable, do not change the encoder for a single failing destination — inspect that destination's log and platform requirements.
Never send a screenshot containing a stream key. Rotate the key from the channel controls if it has been exposed.
